Susan was drawn to Pilates after the birth of her third child in
October, 2000, when she wanted to regain strength in her upper body and
combat the constant fatigue of having three young children. Inspired by
her personal trainer, Susan supplemented weekly private Pilates sessions
with mat work and found that Pilates immediately helped her to feel
stronger, healthier and happier. l
A life-long athlete, Susan was also impressed that Pilates significantly enhanced her athletic performance in everything from tennis to soccer, swimming to softball. Pilates work is challenging in that it teaches you to use your body in a completely new way to maximize power, without injury. Teaching Pilates is Susan's second career. Wanting to help others the way her trainer helped her, Susan began to research Pilates certification courses upon leaving her human resources consulting career in 2003. She earned her Pilates certification in 2005 through the Pilates Method Alliance and teaches private Pilates sessions as well as mat classes in Evanston. Susan believes that the Pilates method of body conditioning works well for any age and body type to build a strong, healthy body that can better cope with the physical and emotional stresses of every day life. |
